The last 2 Musters he had from September to December 1818 he was based at Gort. Then it says  on the page "Regiment Disbanded".

I knew about him being given marching money from when I went to the Archives at Kew in 2009 but for some reason my photos of his discharge papers giving him money have has disappeared. I would like to see that bit again did you get the information from a website that he was given money?

Thank you.

I have looked up Cahir - and found it is in the County of Tipperary in the province of MUNSTER. This is interesting because Herman Minster was originally called MUNSTER when he joined the Dragoons in 1806. But he was from Germany.

The marching money is detailed on the back of his one-page discharge record. Viewable on FindMyPast and Fold 3.

Thanks Shaun.
I don't know how I missed that one. Good to have other people looking too.
So I made 2 mistakes there - one not looking at the next page on Findmypast  & it is still annoying me that I have mislaid or deleted the photo I took originally.

But just shows it's good to review things occasionally and 'new eyes' turn something else up.

Here's still hoping I can find more about him and his family.
I wonder if there are Army Pension books  which list the amount he got each month/quarter and where it was collected or sent? I wonder how it was paid to them in those days.

Really appreciating everyone's efforts on this.

Do you know if he would have had to go and collect it or how else did he receive it?

Another thought on why he died at Gort is that when he was discharged from the Army, being from Germany, he really had no base to go back to in the UK. I wonder if his wife's family were in the army too and she travelled around as I can't find any thing about her either. That being the case there may be no incentive to move anywhere else. But this of course is just supposition.
