Need first page of census return
« on: Sunday 01 December 19 01:03 GMT (UK) »
Evening all.

I'm trying to find my g.g.grandmother, Catherine Herlihy, in the 1901 census.

I think I found her daughter, Mary Rose Symons (my g.grandmother), who had married the year before:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XSWP-R4S

Since Mary Rose is described as the daughter of the Head, I assume that the Head would be on the first page of this return? This would presumably be Catherine Herlihy, as her husband had died in 1892.

I can't find Catherine Herlihy with any searches on familysearch.org - "Herlihy" is a bugger of a name to search for as it is almost never spelt correctly! So, my question is, can I somehow obtain the URL of the first page of the 1901 census return from that URL of the second page?

Thanks very much,

Jon

Thanks so much!

It was that dodgy age of 60 (i.e. born ~1841) that fooled me - in all the other records for her the birth year is much earlier than that. Here's the record on familysearch.org:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XSWP-R4M

Now all I need to do is to work out who's son the nephew is.

In 1891 her age is shown as 51, so no great disparity.

And 83 at death Dec qtr 1922, East Stonehouse district = b 1838-39 which looks a good overall average.

Thanks to you both for looking for Catherine in other censuses.

I'm a bit confused though - I found her in the 1861 census aged 24. Her surname was mistranscribed as "Grays" but the address (31 Durnford Street) is the same as that on her marriage certificate a couple of years later and in the image of the census return her surname definitely looks like "Geary" rather than "Grays" to me, though the handwriting is appalling.

Could you possibly point me towards the 1861 entry for Catherine Geary that had her age as 22 avm228?

I'm pretty sure her husband, William Herlihy, was born in 1839 and that Catherine was at least a year older.

Sorry - ignore the Catherine Geary I found. I agree yours is the correct match.
