Tree program advice please
« on: Tuesday 03 December 19 14:20 GMT (UK) »
My family treated me to a tablet recently, which has a bigger screen than my old iPad mini. I currently use a free version of Heredis on the iPad

Any suggestions for a basic, free program so that I can store my tree on the tablet? Not being technically minded I have no idea.  ::)

Sorry to obfuscate, but is it an Apple product or an Android product? It makes a big difference.

If it is Android, the best I have found is FamilyGTG. It's basic but usable, and free.  It also makes a difference as to whether you anticipate having internet access during your research. Libraries offer it, but cemeteries don't.  If you have internet access a good idea is to upload your GEDcom file, which you can export from your current program, and upload it to any of the major family tree sites. You could mark it totally private.

Heredis on an Android tablet needs the PC file converting to HMWZ format, before importing it. That should not be a problem if you already have the PC version. As I don't have it, I have not been able to try the tablet version.
