St Matthew Stretford Manchester
« on: Saturday 07 December 19 10:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi - looks like the graveyard at At Matthew Stretford was cleared in the 1960s - is there any audit of the graves that were removed?

Thx

The Lancashire Online Parish Clerk has transcripts of the burial registers 1712-1960:

The church might be able to advise you on what happened to the headstones which were removed:

My understanding is that, if headstones are to be removed from a burial ground, they must be broken up on site - presumably to prevent them being sold off and used for something else.

The records for this church are held at Manchester Central Library with Archives +  http://www.gmlives.org.uk/results.html#imu[rid=ecatalogue.226706]    Amongst the records mentioned are: Grave Registers and Inscriptions, n.d.   However, you can see these are not dated.

I agree with the other poster  I'd contact the church for further information
