If you can download the GEDCOM, then split the tree from the person you want to keep X by either ancestor/descendant. Using the software I have I can then ask it to delete everybody not related to X.  The software will then delete everybody that I have just split. Leaving you with a smaller tree.  At this point you can merge this smaller tree onto the other tree.

Otherwise it’s a case of adding each individual manually to your tree.  I don’t know how many people would be involved.

That is precisely what I want to do.

I will have another look at the software we have to see if I missed the option to split a tree
