Daughter Ann b. circa 1876 on the 1881 census, was born on 18 April 1875 at Newarthill, Bothwell.
Parents were James Beveridge, spirit dealer and Robina Beveridge MS Gilbert . Married 10 Feb 1874, Newarthill

The marriage that Annie refers to shows James as a widower at the time of marriage.

This looks like James:

He came back to Scotland aboard the Asia.
Departed Victoria Feb 1873, destination London

No sign of Ann so presume she died in Victoria.

I'd urge anyone with access to ancestry to view a tree as there's a lot of info. which may be being duplicated?

"The other daughter Jane Scoullar Beveridge, born in Australia is also proving hard to track down"

There's no mention of the name on the tree I looked at but there's a Beryl Scoular & an Emily Jane?

I think that's Jim's tree Annie.  His main problem is in finding Ann*

As you say, he seems to have most of the children's info.

Gadget

*as he was a widower in 1874, she must have died between the birth of the last child in 1862 and 1873/4.
