Found the parents marriage on Find My Past but again can't seem to find it on Scotland's People.

Married 17 April 1854 at Dunbeth Relief Church,Coatbridge,Lanark,Scotland

They are showing in SP in the OPRs - banns on 9/4/1854, Bothwell and 16/4/1854, Old Monkand.

Jim

You say that Robert came back to UK and remarried.  Have you had sight of his marriage certificate and, if so, does it say that he is a widower?

I can't find a death for Ann in the Victoria. Aus or Scottish deaths so far.

Annie

Hi all

I am not sure what the above means? Please excuse my ignorance.

I have been unable to find the record of the second marriage of James, but do note I have the census for 1881 which notes the head of house James, wife Robina and son James, born in Victoria.

Emigration from Australia - the records do not appear to be electronic and I would need to view the microfiche in Melbourne to determine if Ann actually left Australia with James & James. The other daughter Jane Scoullar Beveridge, born in Australia is also proving hard to track down. As she is not on the Scotland Census, I can only presume she did not emigrate with James & James?

Thank you everyone for your comments so far.

Regards
Jim

Apologies, I had to dash out when I posted...

The 1855 is the birth of Robert Beveridge which has much extra info. than on an OPR or any other Statutory Record.
