I am researching my husband's Rowlett ancestors.
I am trying to find a marriage between Edward Howlett and Elizabeth Howsden sometime before 1857.
I have found a wedding in April 1840 between Edward and Elizabeth Hammington Northamptonshire vol 15 pg 495 and this seems to be the only marriage other people have on the well known ancestry website. The same people have this Elizabeth dying in 1899.
On ordering Edward's son James's birth certificate 1st January 1857, Edward is the dad and mother is Elizabeth Rowlett formerly Howsdon, residence Castor.
I know sometimes mistakes are made with spelling etc when transferring these records but there is a big difference between Hammington and Howsden.
Edward is on the 1851, 61, 71 and 81 censuses living with an Elizabeth.
So did Elizabeth Hammington die earlier and Edward then marry Elizabeth Howsdon at some point making it her who died in 1899?
There were 4 children born inbetween 1840 and 1848 then a 6 year gap (unless I haven't found all children) then another 4 inbetween 1854 and 1860. could the gap be where the marriage was.
Am I missing something?
kind regards Andrea.
