My dad Anthony Errol Thiele born 06/07/1943 was adopted by Mary & Gerald Samuel Wood in East London south africa in aug 1944. We are looking for any family members who know of a Thiele family who had children already but gave away a son in 1943. Thank you

Have you looked on Ancestry or other websites that host family trees, to see if anyone has a Thiele born South Africa around the 1940's.

In addition, have you looked in Surname Interests, under Your Tools below, to see if anyone is researching the same family?

Was he told anything about his parents, or received an adoption file, or has his original birth certificate?

In case yu hadn't looked through the micro fiche for the Methodist Church, I had a nosey and during a 20 year span there was no surname "Theile" noted.  There were about 3 or 4 "Wood" baptisms in the 1940s but no parents had the names you mention.

There is a Thiele family from East London with a family tree on Ancestry.
They are descended from a Emma Thiele 1893-1990
She had brothers Wilhelm Carl 1876-1968 ,Carl August Wiliam, and Fredeich Karl william ,sisters  Bertha Augusta and Annie Christina.
As Emma had one illegitimate child in 1920 I wouldn't rule any of them out as possible ancestors.
It might be worth getting in touch and asking if they know anything.
