Mary Davies born c 1843
« on: Sunday 15 December 19 15:01 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me with Mary Davies,  and daughter Emily.
I have Mary in 1871 onwards, but not before. Emily I haven't found before her marriage in 1884.

Mary Davies was born about 1843,  according to her marriage in 1871 her father was Samuel Davies, a labourer.  The witnesses were Charles Davies,  and Mary Ann Spackman.
Mary hasn’t been found with her parents but she had 2 illegitimate children.
In 1868  Mary was in the  Haverfordwest workhouse where she gave birth to a son, she was a singlewoman
She is known to have had a  daughter  Emily and in June qtr 1864 Emily Davies was registered at Haverfordwest,  mmn Davies, so again possibly illegitimate.
In 1871 Mary Davies was in High Street, St Mary’s,  Haverfordwest, she was single ,aged 28  Also there is  Mary Ann Spackman who was a witness at her marriage later that year.
1871 Emily isn`t found.
In 1881  Mary states she was  born  St Davids, Pembroke.
 Emily  not found in 1881.

Thanks.

Samuel in this census was born  Granston.  Dinah aged 1 born Fishguard.
In 1861 a Dinah Davies 12 born Granston in in the Haverfordwest workhouse.

So far I`m finding nothing that confirms  it all for sure,  thanks for searching.

I don`t have her marriage, it was just that they might have been found together.
Thanks for the help.

Bye the way, I had no email notification on your replies, so if you can add just a short response I can  check to see again. Thanks.

According to the census, the Mary Davies in the same household as Mary Ann Spackman was born in St Nicholas, Pembrokeshire.
The mary Davies daughter of Samuel in the 1851 census was also born in St Nicholas.

I`m back !
Mary Davies aged 8, with siblings and widowed father Samuel an Ag Lab at Manorowen.
Registration district   Haverfordwest
Archive reference   HO107
Piece number   2480
Folio   21
Page   9

1851
Samuel Davies  widower 38 b Granston.
 Sarah Davies 15.
 Thomas Davies   11
Mary Davies    8
Hannah Davies    6
Anne Davies    3
Dinah Davies    1

I think this might he him in 1841.

1841 St Nicholas, all born in Pembrokshire.
Samuel Davies 25 ag lab.
Ann Davies 30
William Davies 9
Martha Davies 7
Sarah Davies 4
Thomas  Davies 1  and a half. ( ancestry has 40 )

There are a couple of deaths for Ann  if the birth of Dinah is correct. I found another Dinah of a similar age in the census with different parents.
Perhaps Dinah was registered after her mothers death depending on  both dates. Or Ann  just could be the 1850 death.
I`m not finding Samuel after 1851 and struggling to find the children.

DAVIES, DINAH     mmn    DAVIES
GRO Reference: 1848  J Quarter in HAVERFORDWEST

DAVIES, ANN  38
GRO Reference: 1848  M Quarter in HAVERFORDWEST
DAVIES, ANN      39
GRO Reference: 1850  D Quarter in HAVERFORDWEST

It`s difficult finding  a marriage without a maiden name and parish registers don`t seem to be online.
