Emily RAGGETT
« on: Tuesday 17 December 19 14:56 GMT (UK) »
Emily RAGGETT (née BARNES) was born in Godalming on 22 Feb 1855. She married James Burchatt RAGGETT on 08 Apr 1877 at Stoke-near-Guildford.

She died on 20 Jun 1905 in Guildford. Her husband James died some years later on 15 Jun 1923 in Guildford Hospital.

Her husband was buried on 03 Jul 1923 at Holy Trinity, Bramley, which makes sense as he was living in Bramley at the time of his death.

I can't, however find a burial for his wife Emily. As far as I can see she was not buried in Bramley where her husband was later laid to rest. I welcome suggestions.

Any chance of any help or new insights on this old thread? Needless to say, I have got nowhere with this.

Have you found her obituary in a local newspaper?

She may be buried in a public grave. They had a large family and may not have been able to afford a private grave.
Guildford looks to have a cemetery in Guildford and Old Stoke cemetery (they were living in that area in 1901).
Perhaps an enquiry there?

Amondg - the only access to local papers I have is through FindMyPast and I can find no record.

Heywood - with regard to local cemeteries, I have tried the online records for the two cemeteries close to Godalming, namely Nightingale and Eashing, again with no luck, I can find no online records for Guildford cemeteries. The contact form on the local council website doesn't appear to function.

That’s disappointing, isn’t it.
