Looking for Mary’s maiden name
« on: Thursday 19 December 19 01:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,
I am Looking for Mary’s  maiden name

William LIPYEAT (dob 1710) married  Mary JEFFREYS (dob 1712)  at Saint Antholin, Budge Row London England on the 24th July 1734  and on the marriage bond it states she is a widow, a young widow.

I’m presuming JEFFREYS is her previous husbands married name.

Thank you in adavance!

Mary born 1712 was 22 years old when she married William Lipyeat.

If it was her second marriage, she must have been quite young when she first married :)

If she was a widow her maiden name won't be Jeffreys.

A possible marriage on 1 June 1730 at Fleet Prison, London - Edward Jeffreys (cordwainer) to a Mary Harndine. Would need to see if there is a death for Edward before her second marriage.

Had a look through the deaths and none found.

It's showing on this marriage  the couple are from ENFIELD?

 I'll have a search for a death.

Marriage record for William Lippyeat says he was from Queenhithe and Mary was of the same parish. There is a burial record for a William Lippieatt / Lippyate at Queenhithe on 7 Jan 1738, occupation house-keeper or Victualler (depending on which record you read).
Looks like William and Mary had a daughter Hannah bapt on 27 July 1735(born 29 June) and daughters Martha and Mary bapt on 14 Aug 1738 (born on 12th). Martha buried Aug 20th and Mary buried Aug 27th. Mary Lippyeat widow buried 25 Feb 1741, can't read the last line - could say from the Bell in the Hith.
So if little Hannah survived her parents, who looked after her? Maybe one of Mary's family?

Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott
