Musical director : 7 brides for 7 Aliases
« on: Thursday 19 December 19 20:21 GMT (UK) »
I was interested in 2 stories about international music directors of touring theatre companies .

It turned out that 1 of the men did have aliases and a tendancy to leave wives and children in 1 country and start a new family elsewhere .

He was well known + rootschatters have found lots of news articles about his shows and his disappearnces

I m posting on this site in case anyone has links to his theatres  chorus girls or musicians

will add the link to the original post about Josef ANDRE b1857 french Germany

# d 1940 New York.

His 7 Aliases were

Peter JOSEPH

Herr Josef André

Signor J TRESSI

Dr.J A BERINGER

J.A BARTHOLDI

J A BROWN

(Dr Josef PELZER. ) ?

But there may have been another director based in Scotland of that name who was NOT  a bigamist

Wives names and link to follow

I understood (from the other thread) the PELZER alias had been ruled out.

The other Pelzer man was ruled out but I think he did use that name and the fact he named his son Pelzer is a clue

It's a very long thread .feel free to correct any mistakes

7 brides may be an exaggeration too as he didn't actually marry Clara HARLE

Some of his wives were chorus girls so may have had stage names as well as official names and be same personn

winnifred Aline SECKER remarried in
1932 I wonder if she got divorce or an annulment or claimed to be a widow
