It starts Llanyb and possibly ends ss but I cannot find anywhere which fits that.

UK bmd has a Llanyblodwel and a Llanymynech in Shropshire

Her other censuses give Oswestry as place of birth, so I think it's in that area but so far I can't find a good fit.

Yes, Llanyb.. or Llanyl... , I'm not sure which. The other "b"s aren't quite like this.

Hi,

The nearest I can find is a township in the hundred of Oswestry - Llynklys (or Llynchlis) - not what it says on the census but a possibility? This is a farmhouse about 2 miles from Oswestry on the Llanymyench Road according to parishmouse.co.uk

That does sound a possibility, even though that's not what the enumerator wrote.
