Jean Littlejohn
« on: Monday 23 December 19 16:37 GMT (UK) »
I have a note which says Jean Littlejohn was christened at Farnell on 12 Jan 1718.
I believe her parents were an Alexander Littlejohn and Isabel Greig.
If these were her parents when and where were they married please?

If you have checked on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and not found it, there is almost certainly no surviving record of it anywhere.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

I note the record for Jean in Farnell 1718; there was an earlier birth at Farnell  but only father named.

LITTLEJOHN   ALEXANDER   ALEXR. LITTLEJOHN   16/12/1711   Farnell

Sadly the marriage records at Farnell, if that is where they married, do not begin on SP until 1716
and death records only 1752 – 1795.

By the way I also see that another Jean was born the same year in the County.

LITLEJOHN   JEAN   ALEXR. LITLEJOHN/JANET MILN   08/06/1718   Brechin

There were marriages elsewhere in the County such as below.

LITLEJOHN   ALEXANDER   JEAN MILL    19/06/1711   Arbroath
LITLEJOHN   ALEXANDER   JEAN LANGLANDS   02/08/1720   Brechin
LITTLEJOHN   ALEXANDER   JEAN BROWN   08/06/1718   Farnell

There were also a number of Greig marriages, I wonder if Isabel/Isable had been married before?

GREIG   ISABLE   JAMES LINDESAY   27/04/1704   Monifieth

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

Jean Brown is of Brechin in the Kirk Session minutes (proclamations) for Farnell . No marriage found for Alexander and Isobel.

Thanks Colin & Gadget for this information.
I see from Alexander's baptism record, 16 Dec 1711 Farnell, that father Alexander was a Cottar in Carcary/Carchary  which I believe is near Farnell. As you say there is no mention of a wife on this record.
I have a record of a baptism for an  Isobell Greig,12 Dec 1670 Brechin, with parents James Greig and Elspit Souter. Isobell could be my 5th Great Grandmother with Jean Littlejohn as a possible 4th GGM although this would make Isobell 48 at the time of Jean's birth in 1718
