Help required, Nichols family. Edward Russell Nichols (1852-1929), son of Edward (1826-1872) and Jane Maria Stewart Nichols (1825-1899). Edward's parents I believe were Edward (1798 Puckelchurch, Gloucestershire) and Ann (1796 Edlington, Wiltshire) surname not known. Edward was the only child as far as I can see.

Sounds like some uncertainty. It would be better to confirm this Edward and Ann as parents before looking for their origins.

Marriage certificate, 1848 has witness   E***** BARHAM  and Ch***** RUSSELL.

The children of Edward and Jane Maria would seem to have good family names as second given names which should help your research.

I think we may need to look at the Barham family that Edward & Jane are with in 1851 in case the Stockbury baptism with mother Mary (no father) is the correct one.
