Have you looked for his Cheslea pension papers? They could provide a great deal of information.

They are held by the National Archives, but can be downloaded from Findmypast.

Does anyone know where I might find court records for the supreme Court of madras in India circa 1818

If they survive, they may be amongst the India Office Papers in the Asia, Pacific and African Collection at the British Library. There are some for 1814 and some for 1816, but I can’t see anything in the online catalogue for that particular year.

Your best bet may be to email the BL reference enquiry team and ask. They are often slow to reply, but very helpful when they do ...

Have you tried Families In British India Society? www.fibis.org

They may have something if you do a search.
