Sidbury
« on: Saturday 28 December 19 06:52 GMT (UK) »
Greetings,
First and most important, Merry Xmas (a bit belated) and a happy New Year to all here......

So to my question.....

Does anyone know if the Sidbury Parish Registers are available on line? There is nothing on either Ancestry or Findmypast. Familysearch has partial transcripts in the catalog and the OPC has lookups for records from about 1813. There are supposed to be BTs from the early 1600s.

I'm looking for records for members of the Walrond family, particularly from the mid 1600s to the mid 1700s.

Best, Keith Jeffery

Genuki has a list of where they are available but it doesn't look as though any of the earlier records are online https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/Sidbury

The pre-1813 registers were destroyed in a fire. ( http://www.sidbury.org.uk/sidbury.php?pageid=54&c=5 ). The surviving Bishop's Transcripts are, as always, full of gaps. The baptisms and marriages are apparently included in the Familysearch index. Images of the BTs are also available on the Familysearch site, at

Hello
They are supposedly with gaps on Freereg and without gaps an index on Familysearch.
The entries I can see are
Joah Ash and Francis Walrond married 23.10.1738
Sarah Loveridge Walrond d of Eliz bapt 17.10.1742
Francis Walrond buried 11.3.1747/8
john Waldron s of Nicholas and Elizabeth baptised 3.1.1779

There is a PCC will for Francis Walrond 1748 which mentions his property in Sidbury and Holborn London. He is a Gentleman. He mentions his father in law Master Abraham Ash,his wife Joan and their children legally begotten ,brother John Walrond, cousins Henry and Francis Walrond and cousin Mary Taylor.

Hello folks,

I'd like to thank you all for the information that you've provided. It has enabled me to progress the location of some of the Walrond family.

Regards and have a great New Year,
Keith Jeffery, Brisbane in deepest darkest Queensland
