I thought it would be simple to sort out whether James Emmanuel MM McGEE was born in Leeds or near Whitby by checking in Freebmd
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.plI found his marriage q2 1894 Camberwell 1d 1144 - James Emmanuel M M McGEE & Florence Emily HUDD or Caura Rosina M WHITE, but could not find his birth in England / Wales about 1868.
1901 census for Hawsker has him age 33 born YKS Leeds. Marriage certificate gives his age as 26 and says his father was Matthew Maxwell McGEE who was an Engineer and supposedly deceased.
Beyond that I could make no progress but did find some mentions in the newspapers which may be of interest
There is an item in the Whitby Gazette of 31 March 1904 about a police constable having arrested a man for obstructing the street in Baxtergate, Whitby. One of those involved was Mr McGEE of Hawsker. Described as James Maxwell McGEE, miller, Hawsker.
Whitby Gazette 10 April 1908 - Sneaton, Hawsker and Sleights Foal Show, annual meeting - The Committee was re-elected and included J. M. MAGEE.
Whitby Gazette of 7 April 1911 same thing and J. M. MAGEE still on the committee.
Looks like MAGEE joined the committee in March 1904.
Whitby Gazette of 12 April 1912 - The committee was re-appointed with the addition of Mr T. RHEA in place of Mr J. M. MAGEE, deceased.
Whitby Gazette 22 Sep 1905 - An Unwitting Offence at Hawsker - James Maxwell McGEE and Joseph HUSBAND of Hawsker were summoned for having unlawfully trespassed, in pursuit of game upon land at Hawsker ~~~ They did not know they were doing wrong. Mr McGEE had been in the habit of going on the land, both before he went out to South Africa and since he had returned. ~~~
PS
Newspaper advert of 18 Sep 1903 by Jas M McGEE says Hawsker Mill will shortly be opened for the sale of Flour, Cattle foods etc. He did lots of adverts for cattle food etc in 1904 and 1905. 1907 and/or 1908 he was advertising a house (his?) for rent in Hawsker so may have been planning to move out for a time. His family were in Camberwell in 1911 census but where was he?

I had a look on David KING’s site where he has amassed many notes of personal names in Wills for around the Whitby area.
http://www.davekinggenealogy.co.uk A search for RENWICK brought up this -
Thomas Renwick, Fylingdales. Joyner. dated 8.12.1718, proved [not stated] (f.259)
daughter Jane Renwick
[£20 in the hands of landlord John Moorsom]
wife Elizabeth Renwick
wit: Benjamin Rymer, John Scott, Mich: Summers
A search for “WHITE” brings up too many results for me to bother with though you might want to sort through them. Full copies of the Wills can be downloaded for free if you visit the Borthwick institute in York or you can oder copies for £10 each.
