Edensor Parish Records
« on: Sunday 05 January 20 14:47 GMT (UK) »
I am in need of some clarification which a view of the original Paris Records of St. Peter's Church, Edensor may provide. Failing that, someone here may have an idea.

From FreeREG.org.uk I have transcriptions of Parish Records of St. Peter's Church, Edensor which show
1) a Joseph Hibbert (in other records Hibbard) of Edensor marrying Martha Barton of Edensor 19 May 1807.
2) a Joseph Hibbard (in other records Hibbert) of Edensor marrying Sarah Holmes of Bakewell 9 May 1813.

Census records for 1841 and 1851 are unhelpful, so I am reliant on Parish records.

As you can imagine, these two couples have become almost interchangeable when looking at other people's family trees, with the same children attributed to both and the spelling of the surname appears fluid.

I am badly in need of an insight so that I can separate these two men, or to prove that they are the same man.

Both marriage transcripts list Joseph as a bachelor.

Joseph & Martha are still baptising children in 1815 (Emma Hibbert)

Hi Rosie yeah I got that too, which suggests 2 different men, with the same name, about the same age, from the same small village...

Parish Register images for both marriages at Edensor are available to view on Family Search.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
