Lost the address search on FindMyPast
« on: Monday 06 January 20 09:24 GMT (UK) »
Having just continued my FindMyPast membership I went to do an address search on FindMyPast.

First I discovered no separate 1939 Register appeared at the top of the page, then I eventually found the 1939 within the census records but no address search which is very annoying.

Anyone know how to find the address search in the “new” site? The colours are horrible and so wish washy!

The address search on the 1939 register is at the top of the search page. You just click on 'person' or 'address'.

To find the 1939 register just click on 'search' at the top of the page. You can easily see it there in the drop down menu.

The top of the search page in the new colours says

Family Tree Search DNA ( no 1939)

Click on search and you go to a blue page with at the side World records
and a banner in the new colours Family Tree Search. DNA

So annoying why can’t they leave things alone! If anyone can tell me how I get the old (blue) page with 1939 Register at the top back I would be grateful.

At the top of the home page you should see (from left to right) Family Tree, Search, DNA, My Records, Help & More (see snip below)

Click on 'Search'. From the drop down menu (as shown by BumbleB) select 1939 Register.

On the 1939 search page select 'person' or 'address' as shown in reply #1

Since the update I’ve also had problems with the 1939 address search.  I am getting numerous Whoops 500 screens over the weekend it was terrible.  It’s failing more than working.

All I get at the top is Family Tree Search and DNA and under that Welcome back Gibel

If I go to sSearch on that line it goes straight to the old Blue World Records Page with no mention of 1939 Register

However if I go to the far right where there are 3 horizontal lines I get a drop down list on the left which includes My Records, if I then click on Search in this list I get the full list including 1939 Register.

Whether I’ll remember that for next time I don’t know. Why oh why do sites supposedly improve themselves but just make them more complicated. Incidentally the page I ended up with is navy purplish and orangey pink. If they must go all colours of the rainbow they could at least take advice on the best colours for those with poorer vision. I can see them but I bet others struggle.

Many thanks for all the help now I think coffee is called for.

PS just a thought i’m On an iPad at the moment I’ll try later on the laptop to see if that is different.

I’m also using an iPad if I select the Family Tree option the next screen top menu to appear is the old style one which includes the 1939 Register as an option
