Another Edward Jones search
« on: Wednesday 08 January 20 20:58 GMT (UK) »
To cut a long story short, I have a DNA match with someone.  The match is 107 CMs, so ought to be a third or 4th cousin, but it appears to be more distant in reality.

The person in her tree that seems a likely candidate is Ann Jones, born Oswestry in 1822. I have Ann's marriage certificate to Thomas Maddox, and a lot of census data for her. I know she isn't a direct ancestor, but her father, Edward Jones could be. He would probably have been born around 1800 (just based on Ann's age).

Apart from his name on her marriage certificate, I can't find a reliable trace of Edward, or his other children.  He may possibly be the grandfather (or even father) of my gg grandfather, Edward Jones, born Ruyton XI Towns in 1845.

If anyone can spot a father, or any siblings for Ann, I'd be eternally grateful. I haven't had any luck so far, and half the population of north Shropshire seems to have been called Edward Jones in the C19th.

Regards
Mike

Superb! Publican at Llynclys would fit the bill perfectly. I haven't had time to digest all this, but the older son Edward looks very good too. I'll go over it all in detail later but many thanks indeed for finding all this.

It looks as though Ann Jones may be working next door as a servant in Llynclys Hill farm in 1841
