Bedfordshire Family History Society
« on: Friday 10 January 20 14:59 GMT (UK) »
I wondered if anyone has had difficulty in ordering cd's on line from the Society.

I am aware that the society is run by volunteers. I made an order through Genfair on the 21st of December and although I had the payment taken from my account on 23rd still no goods.

I have rung the place I ordered from but still no dispatch has been given to me.

Hello Sandy

Have you tried contacting the Society directly with the information including dates, which parish CD & price paid. Genfair would take the order & money and then pass on the details to Beds FHS who would then send you the CD. They should have a record of any CD supplied to you.

Contact Noel Evans on parishsales@bfhs.org.uk or general enquiries to bfhs@bfhs.org.uk

Or contact them through their Facebook page....

CDs can be ordered directly from the Society via their website rather than via GenFair...

Thanks John.

I will e-mail Noel. Much appreciated. Now done.

EDITED. I have just looked at the form and it says you have to be a member to order from the BFHS.

Yes the form asks for a member number (if you are a member) but I don't think we would not sell you a CD if you are not a member, it's all income.

In case you haven't seen it Sandy, there was a recent thread about GenFair, in that it was being incorporated into the Family History Federation. This may have affected your order.

Regarding delivery times from BFHS, I've ordered numerous items via GenFair and ParishChest, and the delivery times have varied quite a bit, from a week to several weeks. So sometimes it's a tad slow but they've never failed to arrive.

The dvd has arrived today.

I received a message about delay.

Strange Genfair said it was BFHS and they say it was Genfair.

At least solved now.

Sorry but Genfair is not being incorporated into the Family History Federation. Genfair is run by S&N Genealogy Supplies.
That is not to say that the Family History Federation are not re-starting supply of Societies CDs or products as they did prior to 2003, but Genfair does have a wider range of family history data than that supplied by family history societies.

It is Parish Chest (who also sold the BFHS CDs) that have been recently incorporated into the Family History Federation - the Parish Chest website is currently being modified.

I'm afraid I was responsible for the confusion here. In the "recent thread" linked to in the quote below, I got Genfair and Parish Chest muddled up:

In case you haven't seen it Sandy, there was a recent thread about GenFair, in that it was being incorporated into the Family History Federation.

Thank you Guy and John for pointing this out - I've added a comment to that "recent thread". As Guy says:
Sorry but Genfair is not being incorporated into the Family History Federation. Genfair is run by S&N Genealogy Supplies.

And as John says:
It is Parish Chest (who also sold the BFHS CDs) that have been recently incorporated into the Family History Federation

I'll try to engage brain before dashing off quick replies  :-[
