I am trying to pin down the townland or even county of birth of an ancestor who was born in Ireland

All contenders are in Co. Kerry

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01otk/

you can see criteria used in the search box.

Have you looked for these Marrying, to eliminate them, etc.....

Then alter search criteria in case any died after 1901 census......

See how many can be eliminated by marriage or death.

No but I did go through and see that only 2 of the 8 census results had fathers called Patrick. The two families I mentioned previously.

Have just looked through marriages and no fathers called Patrick there either. Deaths all seem to be wrong age. Is that enough though?

I think the Tawlaght Family most likely but I was looking for something to confirm it.

According to this, Tawlaght is also known as Chapeltown.

Here is the baptism of Maurice, Chapeltown

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01otn/

I can’t find a civil birth - and neither for some siblings

These are likely deaths for Mary and Patrick
Mary - wife of labourer
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1926/04997/4363811.pdf

Patrick - farmer
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1937/04772/4280278.pdf

There are two Patrick and Marys in censuses in Tawlaght but I am not sure if the other couple had a daughter Ellen which might prove these are Maurice’s parents.
