Cornelius Connaghan & Mary Keenan
« on: Wednesday 15 January 20 17:06 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find more information about the ancestors of my gg grandparents Cornelius (Condy) Connaghan and Mary Keenan. They were married in Killaghtee in Jan 1851 and moved to Glasgow, Scotland either that year or the next as their children were born there. At a later stage in life, they changed the family name to McConnachie. Condy was born c 1820 in Co. Donegal to Daniel/Donald Connaghan, a farmer and Helen Kelly. He died in Glasgow on 28 Dec 1891. Mary was born c 1829 in Co. Donegal to James Keenan, a carpet weaver and Agnes Brannan. She died in Glasgow on 26 April 1898. The family story is that they were from Dunkineely which would fit with being married in Killaghtee. I know in the 1861 Glasgow census, Jack Brannan and his wife Susan were staying with the Connaghans. I presume Jack was Mary's cousin. Condy was a dock worker and Jack a fish packer.
Any information would be gratefully received.

Hi,

Cornelius Connaghan and Mary Keenan are my direct ancestors. I have them in my tree on Ancestry and on MyHeritage. I didn't know that Condy had changed his name so your information is gold to me.

Jim
