Birth certificate query.
« on: Friday 17 January 20 11:44 GMT (UK) »
1896 birth - mother not married - child registered with mother's surname - what are the chances that the father's name is noted on the Birth Certificate despite mother and father being unmarried?

thanks.

What country?

If in the then British Colony of New South Wales,  if the father was the informant, then his details would be included on the registration ...

Is this question connected to previous query?
registered in 1896.  Which 'local' office would hold this birth certificate?
thanks!

If it is a birth certificate from England then father's details for illegitimate child should only show if father attended registration.
Have you searched for a baptism record? sometimes fathers were listed in register (depends on practice of denomination and clergyman)
