I think Dorothy is redacted on the 1939.

It means her entry cannot be displayed because it's within 100yrs of her birth and they don't  know whether she has died

I think the wife in 1939 is probably Ellen Harriet Sarah GALE born Sept. qtr 1907 Alton.Hampshire.

Not seeing a marriage,though.

Hi again carolew. I did actually find death ref, but that is just adding to my puzzlement about whether they married, i realize people call themselves whatever they want these days but i thought they had to put legal name on legal documents. Clearly I thought wrong.
