Hi  I was interested to see your message re the Chapmans.  My mother's dad was a George Chapman from whitwell .  he wasborn in winch hill.  his dad was a William Chapman from Offley, born 1833.  He married a Jane? from Kings Walden in the 1850's and had some nine children I have found so far  in kings walden!  His marriage cert states father not known.  would be interested to learn if you have any possible links?  Regards David Currington

I am also looking for Chapmans around Ware - specifically Elizabeth Chapman who married James Barrett in 1833 and Mary Chapman who married Samuel Barrett about 1859.

Mary Ann Chapman was the daughter of John Chapman and Elizabeth and was born in 1841 in Berden, Essex.  She had a brother Daniel. She died between 1861 and 1871.

Would love to share information.

Gill

I have reached a dead end with George Chapman (b 1856). He married Sarah Selena Levett (b Rickmansworth).
They had children in Hitchin: Florence (b 1880?) + 4 others

Do you have any info on him?

My ancestor, Alice Chapman, was born in Offley in 1857. I know she married a Joseph Biggs who was also from Offley, born in 1853. It is possible, perhaps likely, that she was the younger sister of George Chapman (b.1856) posted by user 'mareva'. They could be two of the nine children of William Chapman (b.1833) and Jane? Does anyone have any firm details or family trees?
