Is it still worth downloading Gedstar app to my phone?
« on: Sunday 19 January 20 06:41 GMT (UK) »
Years ago when I had a Palm Pilot, I used the Gedstar app to view my family tree on the move and without an internet connection.

Now I have a new phone with bells and whistles and I've thought about an app for family tree use. Gedstar still gets a very good review but their website has a flash about

IMPORTANT NOTICE!
For various technical reasons, there will be no further development on the GedStar Pro products. However, the current versions will remain available as long as they continue to work on both the Windows and Android platforms.
Thank you for your support over the years on our journey from Palm Pilots to the latest Android devices!

So is it still worth using this app? Or is there a successor to Gedstar that delivers the same goods?

I have had Gedview for many years. I originally downloaded it for the reason you had Gedstar  - to refer to when out and about, and add to if desired.

I don’t use it often, but have it on my i-pad, and presume it would work on phones too.

I imagine there will be other similar programmes out there.  :)

I use FamilyGTG on Android. It is basic but functional.

Gedstar still works for me on my Android phone. The version is 3.4.11.

It seems to be available here http://gedstarpro.com/    ... download with usual caution.

Looks like there is no further development...

On the rare occasions when I cannot get online I use the Ancestry App to view my tree.
