Ancestry is it worth it?
« on: Monday 20 January 20 17:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi just want fellow family researchers opinions. I had Ancestry the standard membership I’m on a budget but it’s my only vice other than chocolate is it worth resuming membership or can I still research without it?  ???

It depends on what/who you are researching and where  :-\

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

It is possible to search without it, using such sites as FamilySearch, FreeBMD, FreeCen etc but probably harder. There are often discounts on subs from Ancestry, or you could use it at your library or wait for free weekends.

That’s a great idea groom. We have a small village library with internet access or I could go to the local town library  :)

If you let your Ancestry sub expire, you may find they offer special deals to get you to rejoin.
