Arrival in USA Isaac Andrew 1871-1874 remarried in Jersey City 1874
« on: Tuesday 21 January 20 13:58 GMT (UK) »
Has anyone access to passenger lists from the UK to the USA between 1871 and 1874.  Just found my Great Grandfather Isaac Andrew (Widower) aged 43yrs Father Richard Andrew, after years of searching for him when he married a Mary Ellen Armstrong (Widow) Father Tomas Sweeney on the 30th Aug 1874 Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey.
No record has turned up in the USA for either of the above, after this date on any census i have found.
Their is a record of a Burial for Isaac Andrew, born 1843 around 1876 but father's name is Isaac.
My Isaac Andrew was born in 1843 in Holy Trinity, Hull, Yorkshire, last child of 10 other children.
Thank you,
Phil Andrew

In case it helps, the church record for this marriage indicates that both Isaac and Mary Ellen resided in Jersey City.  Isaac's occupation was carpenter, and his mother was listed as Ann Andrew.  Mary Ellen was age 28, a widow, and her parents were Thomas & Elizabeth Sweeney.

There are passenger lists available for free at familysearch.org.

You have his first marriage in Hull I expect to Esther Ann Harper in 1863.  She died in 1868.

Do you have him on the 1871 census in England to narrow down the time he took passage?

A tree on FamilySearch has his death as 1903:

Did he take his children to the US?

There's an Isaac W. Andrews on the New Jersey death index for 1903.  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:W7KL-M2W2  Not sure if that's the right guy.

Possibly son, Joseph Jarvis, in 1881. Can’t see him in 1871:

I think the 1903 death might be a different guy.  Around the right age, but different wife, different part of New Jersey, and buried in Soldiers Plot, which I would think means he was a former soldier.  https://www.newspapers.com/clip/42744820/obituary_for_isaac_w_andrews_aged_59

Joseph is nephew age 4 in 1871 I think.  Head is John Andrews 39 painter from Hull.

The other child died per the family tree, about the same time as her mother it appears  :(
