Hi I'm trying to find records for two people.
1. Thomas William Feather born 1897 Died 1917 he was a private, 351780 I think was his service number, I think he was in the royal scots.
2. Herbert Lloyd Maskill he fought in the 2nd ww. He returned home, I don't have much info on him he was born in Wetherby 1913 died 1973 Wakefield. (probably in a Yorkshire regiment)

WW2 records are still with the MOD and not available elsewhere

I can't see any records for Thomas though someone else may, a large proportion of WW1 service records were destroyed in WW2

You are correct re his service number - this was in Royal Scots Lothian Reg.

 Prior to that one he had number 29415, in the Yorks Light Infantry.

You should certainly find what records there are on Commonwealth War Graves site (as Rosie has suggested) - or on a subscription site such as Find My Past.

May be worth checking if he made a Will by looking under Soldiers Wills on https://www.gov.uk/probate-search

Hi Pennines any idea why he joined 2 different regiments? I don't know of any link to Scotland.

Sorry Tanya - I have no idea why he changed.

 It is more likely he was transferred with others I imagine. Possibly because the new Regiment he joined was short of men. (I am not an expert on military matters but someone may know.)

Possibly you could 'google' the regiments to see if any information on bulk transfers out or in is mentioned.
