What happened to little Dollie?
« on: Tuesday 21 January 20 20:39 GMT (UK) »
Hello! :)

I have a little girl in my tree named Daisy Edna Moralee aka Dollie who died when she was 7 years old.

FYI

Daisy Edna Moralee
Born 14 September 1872 in Houghton, Michigan
Died 24 September 1880 in Hancock, Houghton.

Parents
Matthew Madison Moralee
Mary Ann Ford

I found a document called the U.S Federal Census Mortality Schedule 1850 - 1885 (I've never seen one of these before!) in which a Daisy Moralee is listed (although her d.o.b is listed as January 1872) but the cause of death is strangulation! Poor thing! So i have been trying to find anything online that would tell me anything about her but im stumped. I want to try and avoid ordering a death cert as i am completely skint :(  If anyone could shed any light that would be amazing!

Sorry can’t offer any help  - have you tried local newspaper for that area?

I have tried searching but no joy. Thought maybe a fresh pair of eyes might be needed.
Determined to find out what happened to the poor mite.

For info.

From family search wiki this explains about Mortality schedules

list people who died during the previous 12 months. Mortality schedules were taken along with population schedules during the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses.............
These schedules include persons who died between June 1st through May 31st in the year prior to the federal census.
A typical mortality schedule will list the dead person's name, age etc and cause of death. Though part of the federal censuses, mortality schedules are separate from the population schedules.
