[COMPLETE] Bishopwearmouth, Sunderland - Finding a grave
« on: Wednesday 22 January 20 08:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I found the burial registers for my gg and ggg grandparents and they were buried in Bishopwearmouth Cemetery between 1907 and 1956. All I have is the date they were buried. Does anybody know how I may find the plots so that I may visit them?

Many thanks,

MJ

If the cemetery has an office, they're usually quite helpful. Have you tried contacting them?

Also, I assume you've seen this? http://www.sunderlandward.co.uk/bishopwearmouth/bishopa1.html

Burials and grave registers from Bishop-Wearmouth Cemetery, 1856-1998 have been filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1998, and should be available at their family history centres

Hi Stan,

Thanks for this info. I am not able to get to Utah though to view it. Is there another way to do a search through family search?

I have just found they are available online. You will have to register but it is free.

I do have an account, but I can't seem to see the actual images. it just gives me the reference that Utah holds them.

I think this is what you need  :) https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/825520?availability=Family%20History%20Library

Scroll down, select the date in which you are interested then click on the 'camera' icon. The burial registers give the Ward number and plot number. These aren't searchable by keyword - you will have to trawl through to the dates you want.
