I'm hoping someone can help me unravel the DOERY family!
I have George DOERY (age 41 b. London) at the Bell Inn, Bushey in 1851, also his wife Elizabeth (age 41 b. Stockland, Dorset), and daughter Elizabeth (age 1 b.London). This therefore seems to indicate that they moved from London to Bushey between 1850 and 1851? He was at The Bell Inn for many years, last record being the 1871 census.
I've found a marriage between George DOERY and Elizabeth PYNE (or PAYNE) at St George the Martyr, Southwark in 12/11/1848, both ages are given as 39 and both otp. George's occupation is Fruiterer.
I haven't been able to find George in the 1841 census.
I think George's baptism was possibly 8 Sept 1809 at St James Westminster, birth being 12 Aug 1809, parents William and Jane.
Now, there was another DOERY family in Bushey:
1851 William (age 50 b. Middlesex, London) occupation Omnibus Proprietor, wife Elizabeth (age 48 b. Middlesex, Edgeware), son William (age 15 b. Middlesex, Stanmore), daughter Jane (age 11 b. Middlesex, Stanmore)
1861 they are at Harts Farm, Little Bushey Lane, William being a widower
1871 still at Harts Farm
Looks like William junior took on the farm, he's there in 1891
Be grateful for any help linking the 2 Doery families - it seems too much of a coincidence that they are both in Bushey around the same time, having apparently moved from London.
