Cashmore’s of the Midlands info
« on: Friday 24 January 20 11:46 GMT (UK) »
Greetings everyone,

Recently done my Cashmore family tree and it appears we’re Romany origin but would like to see what others think and to see if there’s any knowledge of it from other families. I’ve got male names of Moses, Job, Enoch, Abraham and Isaac cropping up a lot as well as the usual johns and Joseph’s. Girls called Lavinia, Lucretia, Selina, Rosannah, Maria, Dinah, Rhoda and Susannah. Few odd names such as Shukey and Henney too? Jobs are mainly metal work of all kinds aswell as jobbing smiths, basketmakers, boot makers, cordwainers, button makers, and also ag labs in back lanes with Smiths, Treadgolds, Homers and Vickers. They also married what looks like other gypsys such as Selina Parsons daughter of Eli Parsons, a daughter of Mary Boswell (father Thomas) who’s family are boatmen. Any info would be much appreciated as it looks like they were mainly settled with a few family’s still travelling in the 1841 census. The Cashmore surname appears in Robert Dawson’s surname list in Warwickshire and Leicestershire which is correct for us as we were mainly around Birmingham, West Brom, Tipton, Blackheath and Horseley Heath. Wondering if they crop up in any other Romany trees?
