Missing burial
« on: Monday 27 January 20 14:08 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate the burial of Agnes Autonomies EDWARDS (née EVELEIGH), who died on 02 Jan 1916 at Fleetwood, Staple Hill, North Bromsgrove. I can't seem to find any relevant records online, so would be grateful for help or advice.

I am trying to locate the burial of Agnes Autonomies EDWARDS (née EVELEIGH)

Is this a typo/autocorrect error? She's Agnes Auton Eveleigh at birth (Mar qtr 1850 Honiton) and marriage (Sep qtr 1877 London City).

Auton is an old family name, on the maternal side. Bloody autocorrect interfering I’m afraid. A lot of her siblings have it as a middle name.

Hi,

Agnes EDWARDS, buried in 1916, does not appear in the list of MIs of Catshill Cemetery by BMSGH.  That would leave:

Holy Trinity at the top of the Lickeys
All Saints, Bromsgrove
St. Johns, Bromsgrove

Or

Go the other side of the hill towards Rednall and Birmingham. I don't know the burial grounds there.

As far as I know 'Worcestershire' is not on-line.  Midland Ancestors (the new name for BMSGH) have a shop at https://midland-ancestors.shop/  Search for Bromsgrove.

Plan B - always have a Plan B.

Take a look at the local paper The Bromsgrove Messenger.  A weekly paper with 60 odd years worth at the Bromsgrove Midland Ancestors branch's website  http://www.bromsgrovebmsgh.co.uk/cms/

They are FREE to download as a PDF.  Just register on the site then go down to the Resources box and follow the link, which is not visible if you are not logged in.

Good luck

You need to pay a visit to the HIVE in Worcester where the parish registers for the county are deposited as that's your best bet to find her

Yegvard - that is really useful. I have registered and found a death notice in the local paper (08 Jan 1916), but unfortunately no mention of the funeral.

With regard to the churchyard burials, I suspect that they would have stopped accepting burials by 1916. Certainly the parish registers I have seen stop well short.
