Good spot ShaunJ.

I note he was embodied between Nov 1899 and Nov 01, presumably to cover at Aldershot for Boer War casualties.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Thank you. It could be my guy (he lied about his age on a regular basis  ???) and although he was born in Shoreditch his family came from Epping, Essex.

Compare the signature with the marriage record and the 1911 census (if he was the signatory)?

It's when part time militia units and reservists are called up to serve full time.

The marriage entry makes sense, he had been on active service for a month when he married.  He is still serving full time in Aldershot at the 1901 census.

Do you know if I can find his Militia file on Ancestry? I don’t have FindMyPast?
