yes but though he lived in Huskisson St he wasn't at no 44 (see reply 14)

However if the OP searches for him and browses through  she'll find no 44 and see that no one was recorded there.

FindMyPast is the only site that has that facility for every census

FindMyPast and The Genealogist. Perhaps more accurate to say that Ancestry is the only one that doesn't have that facility.

Mainly because the street names are not part of Ancestry's transcription.

Not sure if you are trying to find who lived in that house or trying to find an ancestor who may have lived there in 1871.
I looked at Liverpool Electoral Registers. I can only see (on Ancestry) the burgess rolls for that time frame.

Though they have only been transcribed every 5th year or so, if you put 44 Huskisson St into the search and 1875 +/- 5 you'll see that in 1870 an Ann Curry was there and in 1875 it was an Edward Stanistreet.

Armed with the polling district name and number, if you click on the year in the grey bar at the top of the image screen you can browse the years that are not transcribed.
Unfortunately they are listed by surname rather than street name. I looked through each page, for that polling district, for 1871 and couldn't see anyone listed at no 44.

I don't think Lesleyhannah is looking for number 44... she's just trying to find Huskisson Street. It was the OP who was interested in 44.

Sorry - my fault the confusion. Am looking for a person who came to this country about 1871 - totally changed his name and identity. Only clues I have he might have lived in Huskisson street, but I have just been through the 1871 census (thanks to above rootschatters) but no success. Can someone tell me when using findmypast where do you put the street name? Do I need to add Liverpool? As I say, I subscribed to findmypast for many years and never used this facility so am completely foxed by the search form. Thanks again for all the help.

I usually use the A-Z of records specify UK and put 1871 census in the search.
The form that comes up has a field for Street name.

On the FindMyPast census search pages, the very first item (above the 'name" fields) is for you to choose whether to search for a person or an address:
