Link to map showing location of Lodge  - note closeness to Pontfaen, on next map to the north.

I  noticed that on your other thread that Thomas was listed as born Pontfaen on one of the censuses. That's the area just on the border of the Chirk and St Martins (Weston Rhyn Tything). My Stokes family came from there!

Thanks.

That turned out to be the wrong one.  I`m sure this is the correct one.
1851 Coseley Street
Richard Chase    22 iron stone miner b Welshhampton
Ellen Chase    24 b St martins
Thomas Chase / Morris 3 St martins
Thomas Cook  cousin b Chirk   15

1861 Coseley Street
Richard Chase    33 coalminer b Welsh Hampton
Ellen Chase    34 b Lodge village Salop
Thomas Morris 14 son in law born Lodge village

Thomas married in 1870.

1871 Coseley Street, Bilston
Richard Chase    43  b Welsh Hampton Salop
Ellen Chase    44 wife b St martins
Ellen Cooke aunt widow    62  b Chirk

I`ve no idea where the Cook`s fit in but it`s not really important.

This Morris family are odd, Thomas was illeg. he leaves his wife for another woman. two of his daughters have illeg sons in consecutive years and give them exactly the same names, even the middle name.
One of the daughters goes off with a married man and has 5 more illeg children When he died she marries at the age of about 52. It was only when one of the sons got his birth certificate when he retired that he found out the truth .
I`m still not getting notifications,  so replies are late .  :)

The ref to Pontfaen stlll seems possible as Lodge is very close - did you look at the  the map?

The baptism of Eleanor Morris in Selattyn, where parents were of St Martin's parish, seems highly probable.

What exactly are you looking for? His ancestors or descendants?

Looking at Ellen and Richard Chase through the censuses -

Are Thomas Cook, (cousin) b. Chirk c 1836 on the 1851 census and Ellen Cook(aunt) b. Chirk c. 1809 on the 1871 census related to Ellen or Richard Chase?

Chirk  is much nearer to Lodge than to Welsh Hampton.
