Flint Mill, Urpeth.
« on: Wednesday 29 January 20 18:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi just got a copy of my grandads birth certificate, it says place of birth was Flint Mill, Urpeth. Can anyone tell me, 1. Is this still standing, not sure if it’s one building or set of houses?  2. How far away from Beamish Open Air is it and 3. Has anyone any photos of It/ them

Thank you
Mercel

There's Flint Mill to the east of Deer Park - middle of map.

Thank you. I don’t live in the area so not sure of the geography but that’s a great start.

Hello, we lived at No 2 Flint Mill from 1943 until about 1950, they were 4 attached cottages with a small farm at the end, it is now part of the Beamish open air museum, there was no electricity, no running water, outside Netties, (cinder toilets) we had to collect water from a spring in the lower field which flowed in a wooden trough over the Beamish Burn into a stone trough for the cows, I walked to school at No Place, passing the Shepherd and Shepherdess pub on the way, some lovely memories, hope this helps.
