Organising Your Family History
« on: Thursday 30 January 20 14:01 GMT (UK) »
It's taken me a long long time to get myself organised, no system is perfect, believe  me! Mine has evolved and been adapted over the years, normally when I have been unable to find something when I needed it most, or I have downloaded or ordered a certificate twice!

I have added pictures and written up how my system works. I use a lot of templates and sheets that I have made for myself, if anybody wants a copy of any of these, don't hesitate to give me a shout.

That looks very interesting and a good way of organising your Family History.

Will take a proper look later.

Thank you

Gosh, what an achievement, very organised,  I have a drawer that looks like that but I also have files like you have on a shelf, my other goal is to sort this drawer out before I depart this life, not that I am on my way out, got to see the next census through

My drawers are called "stuff"   drawers and they are overflowing

Today I have emptied a box of "stuff", I have a lot of books from my mother's home, I have no idea what to do with them, they hung about in my mother's  home so they are quite dirty but not in content, one is the complete works of Shakespeare,  possibly given as a prize about 1912, so I have nearly 2 boxes empty and they are not going to be filled with other " stuff", good day so far

Thanks for sharing!

I like the labels on your binders. I use binders, too, and now I'm going to think about following your example and colour coding them. I don't know where I might find coordinating notebooks or if I'd use that many, but it's a good idea.

I've been thinking about creating a cover sheet (like your family record sheet) for my binders and yours is a great example. I've also thought about creating a master list for military service; so, again, it's helpful to see yours.

Regards,
Josephine
