I’m helping my Brother find out about his family history and I’m at the brick wall already. So his Grandfather was Leon Kula lived in Barnsley 1926-2009. Married to a Lister. I’m trying to find out any info about these two people both are no longer with us. Any leads will help thank you.

www.freebmd.org.uk you will find them listed, other than that I don't know what other information you want

I was trying to work backwards from Leon and Cynthia

My guess he was from a  foreign  country, do you subscribe to Ancestry?, there are papers on there with him listed, born 1924 but it is written in another language during the war, possibly German but I do not know for sure

There are some Kula names which may point to Poland.

Does your brother have any knowledge of his father’s origins. If Leon were Polish, you could try searching for a Polish community or church in Barnsley to see if there are any records.
As I said, the marriage certificate would give you his father’s name which may be good for further research if you traced his origins.

When you say you want to work back, do you also want to find out about Cynthia?

Cynthia M Lister possibly born 1934 in Barnsley registration district, ref 9c 365, mother's maiden name Batchelor, I am sure this is her as she married in Barnsley area

I am also convinced Leon was foreign
