The Pearce family
« on: Friday 31 January 20 07:50 GMT (UK) »
I'm stumped with Frederick Pearce and his forebears, despite having a sub to FindMyPast.  Frederick's death record says he was born on 5 Jan 1928 in Rhos on Sea (he died in 1970), but I can't find a birth record.  His marriage record gives his father as John Frederick Pearce, also of Rhos.  There is a John Frederick born in 1901 who would fit, but no marriage record for him and I can't find him on the 1901 or 1911 censuses.  Help  ???

Have you located him on the 1939 register.

What information does his marriage certificate give for his fathers occupation.

Death registration to clarify who we are looking for.

The Fredrick Pierce born Conway, Caernarvonshire 1928 1Q Mother Smith as mentioned could be the right one. Conway at that time was where the Register Office was for Birth's. As for Rhos that could have been the Ecclesiastical Parish of Eglwys Rhos in the Parish of Penrhyn which covered a large area. There is a family on the 1901 Census living in that area with a 1 month son, but it just states Infant no name. The Father is Fredrick Pierce born 1861 Berriew Montgomeryshire, Mother Eliza. There is a Marriage for Fredrick Pearce to Eliza Owen in 1890 Newtown Montgomeryshire.

Hi,

I am beginning to worry about the mothers maiden name of Smith for Frederick's birth in 1928.

There is a marriage of John Frederick Pierce to Margaret Jones in 1921 (Conway) which would seem to fit for the John F Pierce found by Ellenmai, and certainly that family lived in the right area.

There is also a death of Margaret A Pierce in Salford in 1952 (born 1896) which seems worthy of more investigation.

Are the Smith and Jones surnames being mixed up? Perhaps it is time to buy a birth certificate for some clarification?

Alan
