Hello,
I am new to researching in Canada and am looking to confirm a birth that may have taken place in mid 1940's. I have a full name.
Is this possible, do any indexes exist as they do in the England.
Many thanks any advice greatly appreciated.

Sadly there is no BMD index in Canada. Privacy laws are quite strict 
If you could let us know the parents names, we might be able to trace them for you.

There is a marriage for Martin Dennis Sawyer to Arlene Letitia Flynn - 28 December 1955 - Catholic -  Place of Worship or Institution Ste Thérèse de l`Enfant Jésus - Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
His father Charles Sawyer and mother Margaret Butler.

Canadian Phone and Address Directories, 1995-2002 show the name of Dennis Sawyer at 72 Montmorency Laval up until 2000 and then nothing.
