Mormon - Relief Society Box

Is anyone able to help with an explanation of  -

"When the Relief Society Box was opened after 50 years................."

What exactly was the box and why would it be sealed?  It sounds like a poor relief collection box but I am obviously way off the mark.

If you search for that whole phrase on Google, there are a lot of results that talk about the Mormon relief society. Maybe that will help.

Did you find that phrase in a family history or a history of a place, etc? Maybe posting where you found it would help someone figure it out.

 Not yours but....
Piece in a Utah paper of 1974 entilted "Relief Society Box sealed 25yrs ago to be opened."
The seventh LDS Ward Relief Society celebrated the 132 yrs anniversary of the founding of the Relief Society.
From 1949 there were 30 letters from society members to their descendants and some were addressed to present day members of the Relief Society and Bishopric.Also pictures and minutes.

So a sort of time capsule I guess.

We did google but there was no definitive explanation.

From the newspaper item, I think we had guessed correctly that it was a sort of time capsule.  We were very interested to note that one site mentioned that in the 1980's the Relief Society had grown to be the largest women's society in the world.
