Love Family

Can anyone help me, I am stuck trying to trace my maternal family tree back.

I am happy with my 3 x Great Grandfather James Love (1801-1846) from Ketton, Rutland, England. I am 75% certain his parents were William Love (1754-1818) from Empingham, Rutland, England and Ann Storey (1776-1852) from Duddington, Northampronshire, England. And Williams parents are potentially John Love and Martha Chamberlayne but struggling with information on them.

Can anybody help with John and Martha? And confirm what i have beyond James is correct?

Hi

First have you got proof that James Love  who died 1846 is the same James Bpt 1801 to William and Ann.

Where was James in 1841 Census?  I can see Ann Love born abt 1776 living with a Joseph born abt 1806 and a 5 year old John who is poss. Illegitimate son of Elizabeth Love.

When did James marry and who?  Names and dates of Children

Where to begin,

In 1851 my 2xGG Thomas Love (1842) was at Halflett, Market Deeping, Bourne, Lincolnshire, England with his mother who was a widow and a servant, Ann Faith Love and again in 1861. Beyond this Thomas marries Maria Tomlin / Tomblin in 1863 and Ann lives until her death in 1883 at Towngate, Market Deeping, Bourne, Lincolnshire, England.

I have a copy of James Love's Marriage Certificate to a Faith Ann Sharman 23 November 1840 at St Martin Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. This Shows James as a Widower because I believe he married a Jemima Leaton / Lenton 30 October 1823 in St Andrew, Thornhaugh, Northamptonshire, England.(Northamptonshire Banns shows it as Thornhaugh, Ketton, Rutland). A Jemima Love died in 1939 in Uppingham in Rutland. I have not located any children from the 16 year marriage but am happy this is correct s far.

I have James Love's death certificate for 4 August 1846 at St Martin, Stamford, Lincolnshire, England and have found a burial record 6 August 1846 at Ketton, Rutland, England. This shows he was born in 1801 and the death certificate shows him as aged 45. So far so good.

In 1841 I have located James and faith Love at Water Street, St Martin, Stamford, Northamptonshire, England (both showing born 1806).

Now for a leap of faith,
On the same 1841 census is the head of the household Thomas Love and his Wife Rebecca. After searching numerous baptism records I located the following children of William and Ann Love baptised in Ketton, Rutland, England or Stamford, Lincolnshire, England:
Mary Love 18/11/1792.       Ann Love 13/02/1793.    John Love 25/02/1795
Thomas Love 1797-1869.    Matthew 1799-1806.       James Love 1801-1846
Joseph Live 1803-1868.       Levi Love 1806-1808.     Sarah Love 1808-1818
Levi Love 1810-1835.          Fanny Love 1812-1854.  Ann Love 1814-1857
Elizabeth Love 1815-1895.

I then located a marriage record for William Love and Ann Storey / Storer, 14 November 1791 in Ketton-cum-Tixover, Rutland, England. I also believe William was married previously to Jane Lovet 22 December 1778 and had two children William Love 1781-1836 and John Love 1790-1791. Jane Love was buried 25 May 1791 at Ketton, Rutland, England and spouse's first name was William.

Another leap of faith, and I searched for Baptism records for William Love and found the following were baptised with parents of William and Martha in Empingham, Rutland, England:
John Love 25/04/1747.       Martha Love 1749-1750.   Martha Love 1750-1751
Elizabeth Love 1752-1754.  William Love 1754-1818.  Thomas Love 1756-1758
Martha Love 19/08/1758.    Mary Love 1760-1760.     Martha Love 07/10/1761
Elizabeth Love 1764-1764.

And this is where I am at, any help is much appreciated

And in Addition:

A Elizabeth Leaton / Lenton was present at James Love's death. I believe this to be his sister Elizabeth Love 1815 who marries a Thomas Leaton / Lenton who I believe to be the brother of James's first wife Jemima Leaton / Lenton.

Done some checking and looks ok to me, the only other thing I can suggest is are any of the second marriages you have by Licence? If so have you looked for marriage bond?

If any exist it may well confirm some of your findings.

Yeah really struggling at John and Martha, only located a marriage transcript on Find My Past, 31/10/1745 Clipsham, Rutland, England but only gives names and a date.

Guess this is where my journey ends

Hi

Marriages this early will only give you names of bride and groom, but there are images of the  Clipshsm  register on FindMyPast as well as transcript, but does not say John & Martha we’re married by Licence so have to assume they were married by bsnns.

A marriage Licence often gives you more info.
