John Derbyshire Baptism Wigan 1828
« on: Sunday 09 February 20 02:05 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,
I recently found a baptism record for my 3rd great grandfather John Derbyshire in Wigan 17 Aug 1828.
In the column which has his Christian name it has 2 John with the number 2 in front of John.
Has anyone had the same thing on a Christening record and what does it mean?
Could it be,
1, There was another John before my John and the first John died?
2, Could it mean he is John junior as his father is also John?
3, Could he be a twin?
4, Or does it mean he is the 2nd son of John and Ellen.
Gosh sounds like a question for The Chase.
Would be interested in anyone's thoughts on this.
First time I have seen it.
Cheers
Sue

Looking at the other entries on that page I would say he is the 2nd son of John and Ellen.

Thank you for the reply. I am thinking along the same lines. There may be another same William but just need to prove it.
Cheers
