Liverpool Echo, 9 Jan 1992
DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR SALE BY TENDER

Purpose built residential care home with potential for redevelopment with houses, flats or a new home on the fringes of Sefton Park approx. 4 miles south of the city centre

*Tenders closing date 19 Feb 1992

A letter in the same paper, 12 May 1995, queries why this building on Carnatic Road, "custom built for the elderly" only 20-25 years earlier is being allowed to go to wrack and ruin

I used to go to Aigburth House 1969-73 - it was a Nightclub THEN ..but - it was right opposite Aigburth Vale Girls High school - the Nursing home I remember was right next door to the girls school on the road that circles Sefton Park ...I went to St Margarets High School for Boys in Aigburth 1962-1966 and my recollection is that Aigburth House was connected to Aigburth Vale Girls school ??...like an Annexe - cooking / typewriter / sewing - Domestic Science etc ??  maybe we can find an ex pupil with info - let me ask locally - I know a lot of girls who went to Aigburth Vale school - back soon - hopefully
ADDED
I have messaged a lady I know who was at that school 1960-66  ...should have an answer soon  - fingers crossed

OK -Amy
spoke to a few girls and it was a Nightclub as early as 1963
2 quotes

Angela Green - Aigburth House was a nursing home in Aigburth, I worked there from 1985 till just before it closed in 1992/3 I don't think it was ever a night club tho
...

June Cunningham-Garcia..... I went the Nightclub in 1963 (under age I know) and it was small but busy. Do you remember a guy called Jeff Caddick who used to busk in the city centre to raise money for charity? He played and sang the night I went and it was great. I do not remember it being a nursing home..
........................
So - it was definitely a Nursing Home 1985 - 1992 - and a nightclub 1963-1973  - could you have your date mixed up Amy ?? should it be 1984/85 instead of 1964/65 ???
