There is a marriage 1847 for John Rothwell, labourer and Elizabeth Thomas
https://www.lan-opc.org.uk/
The transcription shows Alkrington as residence

I am not sure - it could be Pilkington  :-\

I can’t post the image

Hi Marj

That’s the transcription from lancsopc but the image looks to me as though it could be Pilkington. :-\
I did try to post the modified image for another opinion but couldn’t for some reason.

After much toil - here is the name of the residences. I can't see the 'r' in Alkrington but realise that the initial letter is dubious.

i think the John & Elizabeth nee Clark is a red herring

The 1881 has different places of birth & ages for both John & Elizabeth to that with son James
